The show started off with some footage from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, or at least that’s what it wanted you to think. If you haven’t seen it yet, do your self a favor and check that out here. Still riding high on the whole event, I wanted to take some time to write about my thoughts on some specific games showcased. You never know what’s around the corner and you keep hoping for just one more WOW moment. This kind of presentation and its randomness also helps keep the whole show exciting. In fact, I’d argue that’s a staple of their brand. There are so many different experiences felt on a Nintendo console. I like to be personally happy of course, but to me it seems like a failure if Nintendo caters to only one type of gamer. I appreciate a Nintendo Direct most when I see Nintendo trying hard to appeal to everyone.
Sure there were tons of announcements I care very little for, but I can easily see the kind of diversity that is present in this week’s showcase. It was a total baller move and I am overall pretty pleased with how it went. Suddenly, Nintendo announced that the following day there would be a Nintendo Direct just as everyone finally stopped guessing that there would be. There’s just something about a showcase like this that makes a Nintendo fan go wild with speculation, discussion, and anticipation. The pandemic was certainly an excuse up their sleeve but it didn’t make anyone feel any better. Surely Nintendo hasn’t been completely quiet over the last year or more, but that magical feeling of a big blowout Nintendo Direct had been lost for some time. After that would be five Nintendo Direct Minis, a Monster Hunter Direct, a Super Mario’s 35th Anniversary Direct, and a Super Nintendo World Direct. Then there wouldn’t be anything until February 20th, 2020 where they showcased Animal Crossing: New Horizons specifically. They had a main-line showcase on September 4th, 2019. We recommend picking up Bubble Buddy as soon as you can because it will make exploring far easier and come at no real cost to the player.įor more guides, walkthroughs, and tips make sure to visit our ever growing Yooka-Laylee wiki. When the pandemic hit, Nintendo had already been on a pretty significant silent period when it came to Nintendo Directs. To activate this power jump into a body of water and then hold R2/RT to sink under the water and move around. Once you have it players can not only throw switches underwater but also advance to the third world in Yooka-Laylee. However, his location is random so you may need to do a bit of exploring, but once you’ve located him simply speak to this reptile in order to obtain this skill. In order to acquire this move players will need to speak with Trowzer in the Hivory Towers Hub World as he will gift this ability to players for free. Not only is this useful for traversal, but it allows players to throw switches underwater with no issue so you’ll want to make sure to obtain Bubble Buddy. This ability allows this dynamic duo to form a bubble around them and walk along the bottom of rivers or lakes.
There are a lot of different puzzles, items, and moves to learn in the retro-inspired platform Yooka-Laylee but one you will need is called Bubble Buddy.
